It was actually quite enjoyable doing a film review of the Raiders offense over the last couple of days. They are obviously a young team, lacking some talent in the receiving corps, with a young QB struggling to learn the passing game. However, this is an offense that is trying to play to their strengths, and that is good running game, and a mobile QB.
Naturally, the first thing we at the Chip Wagon focused on was the Raiders version of the read-option. Lots of similarities to much of the stuff you've seen here and here but the Raiders also have some of their own wrinkles.
Let's get right to it. Much like the Eagles, the Raiders have had their fair share of explosive plays off the read-option. To see one, you need to go no further than last week against the Steelers when Pryor scored on the longest TD run by a QB ever. Here's a look, and I am not sure Dick Leabeau has still receovered from this one.
